Super Eagles forward player Victor Osimhen was not part of the team’s recovery training session after the disappointing result against Equatorial Guinea.
The 2023 CAF player of the year was reportedly out of training due to advice from the team doctor. It was advised that he should sit out the session so he can relax his muscles.
Osimhen scored Nigeria’s only goal in the opening group game at the ongoing AFCON 2023.
One of the team’s midfielders, Yusuf Al-Hassan, who was substituted in the opening game due to cramps, also trained alone as he was monitored ahead of the game against the host nation, Ivory Coast. Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheancho, who joined the team late, was also part of the training session
Nigeria needs their best legs ahead of the game against Ivory Coast which will be played on Thursday, January 18, 2024. The Super Eagles must avoid defeat if they are to stand any chance of reaching the round of 16.
